Animal Overload

We decided to visit Nathan's brother and his wife in Boise over Labor Day weekend. On Saturday we took our kids to the Zoo. It was both Conner's AND Nathan's first time...I know I also have a hard time believing that he has never been to the Zoo! Here are some pictures from our visit. Although Conner would look in the animal cages I know that we were much more excited about it than he was.
Conner's first bareback elephant ride.

It was fun seeing Kevin, Lena, and their kids. We are really sad that they are moving back to Washington...especially since we just found out that we will be staying here in Twin Falls. Now that we finally know where Nathan's job wants him we can begin the search for a house! I am really ready to get our own place. Hopefully it will be in a neighborhood where people won't cut our bike locks to steal our bikes and where our tires won't get slashed...yes both happened to us just since we moved here. I didn't realize that we were going to be living in the ghetto…

Anyways we made it back to Twin Falls on Labor Day in time to go to the county fair… So Conner got to see even more animals! Here he is staring in a cage at some ugly turkeys...thinking "I can't wait until Thanksgiving..."

Ahh and then the reason why we went to the fair... to get a delicious elephant ear! Apparently everyone else had the same idea so we had to wait in a massive line. I normally wouldn't have been patient enough to wait so long but I thought "Hey I only get to eat a giant scone once a year so I'm not missing out!"
I wanted honey butter on mine and Nathan didn’t so we each decided to get our own… BAD IDEA! I forget how big they are and I didn’t want to waste so I tried to eat the whole thing…can you say stomach ache.
It was nice being able to spend alot of time together over the weekend and we had alot of fun too! :)

Crazy Kid

Conner has a crazy little personality that we just love. Yesterday when I was feeding him prunes (he had a bunch up in his nose) when he scrunched up his nose and started sucking the prunes in and out of his nostrils... gross I know...it was so funny because he would do it and then laugh. It is now his favorite thing to do! He did it all day yesterday and today. I tried taking a picture of him making the "piggy face" but he just looks like a devil child so I posted a video as well.

Conner also loves to make a noise that is a mixture of squealing and grunting. It isn't always cute (like when we are pushing him through the mall in his stroller, at church, or on long car drives...) but we think he is so funny.

Despite his craziness, whenever he is around unfamiliar people or places he is a shy baby. If he is anything like his father then he will be sure to grow out of that! I hear stories of him being a hyper active child and I'm a little scared... :)

Lake Tahoe and a 6 Month Old

Conner is 6 months old today...I can't believe how fast he is growing up! His little personality is really starting to come out and he is definately our main source of entertainment. He is such a happy little boy who is full of laughs, giggles, and high pitch squeals. He is constantly making us laugh.

We were able to go to Lake Tahoe with Nathan's family last weekend and we had a really good time. The lake was sooo beautiful!

Even though it was a warm day, the water was freezing cold! Here is Nathan helping Conner cool off in the water.

We went boating the next day and decided to face the freezing cold water and went tubing.
Here is Nathan and his brother Kevin trying to be the one to stay on the tube the longest.
And here is me and Shelby on the tube. (going much slower.):)
We also went on a little "nature hike" to see more of beautiful Tahoe.

We had lots of fun and hope to be able to do it again!

Here, There, and Everywhere!

The past few weeks we have been traveling a TON! Although I have had lots of fun, I am tired of long car rides! Last Monday Conner and I traveled to Sun Valley to spend the day with my old roomate Mandy and her cute little boy Austin. We had lots of fun swimming and hanging out. It was great to see them because they moved to Texas and it has been forever! Here are our cute kids:

We got home that same night and early the next morning Conner and I took off to Idaho Falls to spend a few days with my family because Nathan abandoned us to go to Washington for training. I love hanging out with my family because they are so much fun. I love this picture of Conner and my niece Kynzee. (We are forcing them to be friends...) :)

Three days later we had a family reunion in Park City so we traveled with my family to Utah for the weekend and back agin to I.F. Up through this point Conner had done amazing with all of the driving. (Because he is a t.v. junkie, I strapped the portable dvd player to the back of the seat and played him his baby einstein dvd.) But I guess watching the same dvd over and over again got old because on the way back to Twin he screamed over half of the way. I think that he had had it with his car seat. It was hard driving without someone back there to help entertain him.

I got home on Monday and then turned around and went back to I.F on Thursday for a little family vacation. I would have just stayed in I.F. but Nathan couldn't stand being away from his little boy for so long. (and we both missed him too.) :) We all drove down to Yellowstone and went to the Playmill Theatre. Then we went into Yellowstone Park and drove through the ENTIRE thing. It was really fun but it was a full day of driving. Here are a few pictures of our Yellowstone adventure:

And yes we did get up close to the elk to take this picture even though they always tell you NOT to! (There was a whole crowd of people around it so I figured that if it decided to attack someone what are the chances that it would be me?) :)
You would think that after all of our traveling I would refuse to go anywhere anytime soon but next week we will be off to another family gathering in Lake Tahoe. Even though it is a seven hour drive I am still suprisingly very excited! (Not so much the swimsuit wearing part...)

Birdie Friends

We have a deck outside of our apartment here in Twin and one day we noticed a swallow building a nest above our deck light. I was excited because I love baby animals and it was like having my own pet birds! Nathan wanted to tear it down before the bird laid any eggs because he was worried that that it would get protective and would attack us when we went outside, but don't worry I wouldn't let him do it! The eggs hatched at the end of June and here are the cute little birdies peeking out of the nest.

You can see their fuzzy little heads to which Conner bears a striking resemblance...

People are always commenting on his crazy hair. Quite a few random people have come up to us and said "I love his hair, it's just like a baby chick!" I was like "Hmmm a chick?" I never really saw the birdlike resemblance until now.

Anyways... I have been able to watch the birds out of my bedroom window and Nathan always makes fun of me and thinks I am a nerd but it has been so much fun!

We let our cat Patches go out on the deck (she doesn't ever even try to run away like she did back in Rexburg!) and she usually runs back inside after a few minutes because the birds scare her...it is pretty funny that she is such a scaredy cat!

Here are the birds all grown up right before they left the nest... it only took them a couple of weeks from the time they were hatched!

It was fun while it lasted but as you can see lots of birds equals lots of bird poopie....

Silliness

Nathan thought it would be funny to teach Conner a new trick...

Don't worry it was a clean toe! He sucked on it for a little bit but wasn't too sure what to think. I told Nathan to stop putting it in his mouth... but only after I laughed and took a couple of pictures... :)

Conner has been laughing ALOT lately and it is so much fun being able to get a reaction out of him. He especially gets a kick out of playing peek-a-boo because he thinks something about it is incredibly funny. Here is a video from today of Nathan making him laugh. It is nice to know that at least someone thinks that we are funny... even if he is just a baby...

4th of July!

We had a really fun fourth of July! Once again we made the journey to Idaho Falls to be with my family. On Saturday we woke up early and watched the parade. Here is Conner being patriotic and waving the flag.

Then we had a BBQ and went swimming at Green Canyon. I just found out that Green Canyon was built a hundred years ago- my Dad said that my Grandpa swam there when he was a kid! It is definitely getting run down (the ladder by the diving board only has one step so Nathan had to pull me out of the water!) but it was still really fun! Then we went to the river to watch the firework show. We were excited to see what Conner's reaction would be. At first he was pretty amazed and kept staring and giggling but it is a long show so he eventually lost interest...After the show we went and ate at Denny's. We all ate way too much and were not hungry again until Sunday afternoon. We had a blast and were sad to come home!
